Concerts of Barrantes & Pinto-Ribeiro Piano Duo in Washington and Los Angeles
In March 2020, the duo formed by pianists Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro and Rosa Maria Barrantes will perform in several concerts in the USA.
The tour will begin on March 3 at the Kennedy Center, in Washington, with the concert entitled “Four Hands Kaleidoscope” which includes works by Gabriel Fauré, Samuel Barber, Fernando Lopes-Graça, Francis Poulenc and Piotr Ilitch Tchaikovsky.
The last concert will take place in the series “Second Sundays at Two”, in Rolling Hills. The concert is called “Paris 1900” and will combine the performance of works by Maurice Ravel, Francis Poulenc and Gabriel Fauré with the projection of paintings by Édouard Manet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Maurice Denis, Odilon Redon, Marc Chagaland Pablo Picasso.
The Barrantes & Pinto-Ribeiro Piano Duo was formed in Moscow in 1998, when Portuguese pianist Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro and Peruvian pianist Rosa Maria Barrantes were studying at the famous Tchaikovsky Conservatory, in the Piano Classes of Professors Liudmila Roschina and Natalia Trull, respectively, having completed the Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) Degree in Piano Performance, with the highest classifications.
It was in the framework of DMA studies at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory that the Barrantes & Pinto-Ribeiro Piano Duo studied for two years with the greatest Russian master of Piano Duo, Professor Alexander Bakhchiev, who had maintain for 40 years the main Piano Duo of Russia, along with his wife, Professor Elena Sorokina.
Over the past few years, the Barrantes & Pinto-Ribeiro Piano Duo has performed in concerts across Europe and America and recorded a CD, in Berlin, featuring works by Claude Debussy, Gabriel Fauré, Eric Satie, Francis Poulenc and Maurice Ravel.
