Franz Schubert Complete Trios was presented for the first time in Lisbon in two concerts, on the 11th and 12th of March 2017 at Lisbon’s Centro Cultural de Belém, by the DSCH - Shostakovich Ensemble. Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro, founder and artistic director of the Ensemble, was joined by internationally acclaimed musicians, including the début at the Centro Cultural de Belém of Swiss violinist Esther Hoppe and the return of violist Isabel Charisius and cellist Christian Poltéra.
This set of works spans the full extent of Schubert's creative life: from the prophetic Piano Trio D. 28, composed only 15 with years old, passing through the inspired String Trios and culminating in the two extraordinary Piano Trios, masterpieces of chamber music literature composed in the penultimate year of the short life of Schubert (1797-1828), one of the most brilliant composers in the history of music.
